Situated on its own private beach on the beautiful island of Beqa (pronounce Mbengga), Lawaki Beach House is the ideal place to relax, swim, snorkel and enjoy your holidays. Lawaki Beach House is owned and operated by a Fijian-Swiss couple. This "mini-resort" is the ideal getaway for both tourists and locals from the main land. Only a 60-minute boat ride away from Navua, the closest town on the mainland, it provides a beautiful place to escape.
The team at Lawaki Beach House place a strong focus on sustainability and seek to minimise the impact of their resort on local culture and traditions. They are involved in a range of GOOD initiatives as outlined below.
Social GOOD: Lawaki Beach House supports a school lunch programme to provide a healthy and balanced lunch for students at Uluinakorovatu Primary School in Beqa. They also offer school visits and requires every visitor to pay F$20 directly to support the school.
Environmental GOOD: The whole resort runs on solar electricity (with a back-up generator). Lawaki Beach House also has a vegetable garden and they grow a lot of the food served in their restaurant. Little food is wasted as left-overs are fed to the pigs and chickens at the resort or to the village pigs.
Economic GOOD: Lawaki Beach House is owned and managed by a Fijian-Swiss couple. All staff are local from the nearby villages. Their restaurant serves primarily locally-grown and locally-sourced food.
