Set in the suburb of Melrose, a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg, The Peech is a truly boutique hotel with just sixteen bedrooms spread across a lush garden.
The Peech Hotel aims to have as small an impact as possible on the environment and a big impact on the community.
Social and economic GOOD: They are proud to be a Fair Trade Tourism certified hotel. This certification programme acknowledges establishments that adhere to specific criteria including fair wages and working conditions, fair distribution of benefits, ethical business practice, and respect for human rights, culture and the environment. The hotel is also a proud signatory to The Tourism Child Protection Code of Conduct and they are active supporters of the Little Eden project working with people with intellectual disability.
Environmental GOOD: They have a strong focus on minimising waste, including a Bokashi wet waste facility, recycling bins and an on-site probiotic waste facility that enables all food waste to be processed and recycled into garden fertiliser for the hotel. They also have an on-site water bottling facility that provides drinking water for the bistro & rooms. They are also involved in a variety of other sustainability initiatives ranging from solar water heating to only using rechargeable batteries.
