Tuesday 17 April: Mountain gorillas
After an early breakfast, we will depart for Virunga National Park where will explore the park to find mountain gorillas. Once we spot them you will be allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin! This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking wildlife experiences on earth! These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 700 living today. In the afternoon, we will return to Goma to spend the night.
Wednesday 18 April: Chimpanzee tracking
Following an early start, we will depart for our Chimpanzee tracking experience. Groups are limited to 4 people and time with the chimpanzees is restricted to one hour. Please note that we cannot guarantee to see the chimps as they are unpredictable and can move long distances in one day. In the afternoon, we will visit the gorilla orphanage - the project benefiting from the donation portion of your trip. We will spend the night in Goma.
Thursday 19 April: Mount Nyiragongo hike
Today we will spend the day hiking the Nyiragongo volcano, one of the world’s most beautiful and active volcanoes. At 3468 meters, Nyiragongo towers above the thick jungles of Virunga National Park. A five-hour hike to the rim of the 1.2 km wide crater reveals the fiery lava lake deep inside. We will spend the night camping within the park. The stunning views both day and night make this an unforgettable experience.
Friday 20 April: Mount Nyiragongo descent and return to Kigali, Rwanda
After breakfast, we will descend the volcano arriving at the trail head before lunch.
