Details & Itinerary

The following itinerary provides an outline of our trip intentions, but some activities may be adjusted a little. You will be provided with a full welcome pack including a detailed itinerary closer to our departure date.

Day 1: Arrival into Athens

On arrival at Athens international airport, you'll be met by a representative from GOOD Travel and taken to your accommodation. We recommend arriving into Athens around midday to give you time to rest in the afternoon and explore the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. In the evening, we'll have a special welcome dinner. This will be a fun opportunity to prepare for the week ahead and get to know the other members of your group.

Day 2: Best of ancient & modern Athens tour

Today you will take part in a full-day tour of unmissable Greek sights, like the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora of Athens. You will also have the opportunity to experience the modern side of Athens, exploring the liveliest neighborhoods in town. Highlights of the day will include:

  • The archaeological stars like the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora of Athens, sites of world-heritage importance you just can’t miss
  • The other unmissable spots – a modern Athens tour of the places where Athenians actually hang out.
  • The food tastings, whether at the market or at the taverna, which delivers great flavors in simple but classic dishes – for dessert, you’ll want to eat your return ticket ;-)
  • The feeling that you’re getting to know the city -both ancient and modern Athens, not just the sights.

Day 3: Cape Sounion & the Athens Riviera sunset tour

You will have the morning free to relax. In the afternoon, you will tour the celebrated Athens Riviera shoreline all the way to the stunning Temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean sea, and end your day with a bang admiring the dramatic sunset over Cape Sounion! Highlights of the day will include:

  • No one should miss the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, a stunning 5th century BC structure in a picture-perfect cliff-top setting.
  • See the wonder that is Lake Vouliagmeni, a natural spa with year-round warm water.
  • Visit the newest star on the city’s architectural and cultural scene, the impressive Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
  • Get a real taste of beach life along the city’s favorite coastline and discover an ancient Temple in a surprising location.

Day 4: Project day and nightlife tour

Today you will have the opportunity to visit the organization benefiting from the donation included in your trip fee. Unison is an inspiring community project located in the Kipseli neighborhood, an area that is densely populated by immigrants. This organization offers free music lessons to both Greek and immigrant children, along with their parents, who otherwise could not afford to have music lessons. We'll then have a special group dinner in the evening to reflect on the day.

In the evening, you will experience Athens by night! Athens is Mediterranean – it saves most of its energy and excitement for after the sunset. That’s when it shifts up a gear and puts on its party clothes. Come join the locals in popular nightspots across town as they relax, unwind and spend time with friends, drink and music. Highlights of this nightlife tour will include:

  • Visit three-four hot spots of Athens nightlife, from a neighborhood dive bar to a local favourite for great music, both Greek and foreign!
  • Experience two of the trendiest Athenian districts at night.
  • Meet & interact with the locals and embrace their way of entertaining.

Day 5: Aegina island

This beautiful island, beloved of Zeus and blessed with a rich history, gives a great taste of life on Greek islands. Unspoilt landscapes, 19th century charm, lovely beaches and an outstanding cultural tradition in fine arts and handicrafts is what makes Aegina a favorite getaway just a short ferry ride from Athens! The highlight of today will be swimming at a beautiful island beach and enjoying some great photo opportunities! In the evening, we'll have a special farewell dinner back in Athens.

Day 6: Departure

Your trip ends here in Athens. If you would like to extend your stay in Athens or visit other parts of Greece, please let us know and we will be happy to assist.

What's GOOD about this trip?

Every aspect of the trip has been designed to ensure that the local community, economy and environment benefit from your visit:

  • Accommodation: You will be staying at a 5-star hotel in Athens involved in a variety of activities to support community groups and with a strong environmental policy. In recognition of their leadership in the area of social and environmental sustainability, they have received numerous national and international awards, including the Gold Award for the Best Greek Sustainable Hotel (Greek Hospitality Awards 2019) and the Sustainable Development Champion 2019 award (World Sustainable Tourism Council). They are also the first Greek hotel to be certified by EarthCheck.
  • Tours: We have partnered with a local tour operator that specializes in responsible travel. Their goal is to show travelers the genuine side of Greece, away from tourist stereotypes. They focus on taking visitors to areas that are less visited by tourists, they support local businesses, they encourage real-life interactions across different cultures and they limit as much as possible the use of motorized transportation. Their unique approach has been recognized by organizations ranging from National Geographic to Greece's national Tourism Awards.
  • Meals: There is no doubt that the delicious Greek food will be one of the highlights of your trip! Wherever possible, we will take you to restaurants that share our values for environmental sustainability and giving back to the community.
  • Donation: $100 of your trip fee will be donated directly to Unison in the Kipseli neighborhood, an area that is densely populated by immigrants. This organization offers free music lessons to both Greek and immigrant children, along with their parents, who otherwise could not afford to have music lessons. You will have the opportunity to visit this project during your stay in Greece and learn about the impact of your donation.
