GOOD Travel Research

We bridge the gap between research and practice at the Centre for GOOD Travel, by working as a tour operator and learning from experience, as well as working on cutting edge tourism research projects. Our research informs how we shape our experiences, and what we learn through our experiences also contributes to our research. We see a real need to make tourism research accessible to those working in the sector, as well as to bring real world experience in tourism into the research sphere.

Destination Pledges

We worked with Dr Julia Albrecht from the University of Otago to explore the motivations, strategies and impacts related to tourism pledges. What prompted the rise of destination pledges and are they effective? We carried out interviews with 19 experts involved in the development and implementation of destination pledges in Iceland, Palau, Hawai’i, New Zealand and Finland to address these questions.
